December 21, 2010

The release of a coup personality amidst a picture of the Azkals while in action took the pedestal in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today.

The headline (Court releases Trillanes. Senator granted temporary liberty) does not have a hint of any negative treatment on the senator who staged a failed coup in the last administration nor to his patron in Malacanang. Aquino +1. Trillanes +1.

The other front page news today:

Aquino, BSP defend new peso bills from critics - a report on the new monetary bills from the side of the President and the BSP, giving space to a branding of the critics as mere nitpickers. Aquino +1.

16 PEOPLE DEAD. Aquino orders probe; fire chief axed - although DILG Sec. Robredo is given space in this report, his department was branded to have figured in the August 23 hostage fiasco, while the President ordered him to axe the fire chief as if he is someone who needed ordering about, all these while Sec. De Lima is given good deference in the report. Aquino +1. De Lima +1. Robredo -1.

General bearing gifts visits wounded rebel - a report that looks like a charm offensive from the military. AFP +1.

King of comedy told to respect King of Kings - a report where the comedian Dolphy received some flak from religious groups threatening to boycott his upcoming movie due to religion insensitive scenes.

TELLING THE FILIPINO STORY TO THE WORLD. Mike Arroyo sent ‘Inquirer 8’ to jail - a story on how the paper's writers/editors are victims of Pres. Arroyo's husband's intimidation. Inquirer +1. Arroyo -1.

TELLING THE FILIPINO STORY TO THE WORLD. Chasing after Bolante story was no joy ride - looks like a mere reminder of the evil of the past, while the paper gets us the news even in great peril. Inquirer +1. Arroyo -1.

Garcia deal may peril US aid; Aquino wants it undone - a curator-consultant of the AFP who is also a history professor and now a military analyst turns out to be also a foreign affairs expert by being given front page space for his ability to read the minds of American policy makers. The report also gave Pres. Aquino good space for saving the day after the Ombudsman sold the country to a plunderer, while DOJ Sec. De Lima got the time of her life for her speech covered by the paper. Aquino +1. De Lima +1. Ombudsman -1.

‘Living history’ marks 75th AFP rites Tuesday - a story about a group of people with authentic military uniforms reenacting real people from history, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the AFP.

The scores shows that if a survey is being done at this time, we know the results would be very positive to President Aquino, Sec. De Lima and very negative to former President Arroyo:
Aquino: 4
De lima: 2
Inquirer: 2
Trillanes: 1
AFP: 1
Robredo: -1
Ombudsman: -1
Arroyo: -2
