To wrap up the year, the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today gave President Aquino the space to tell us he is the best.
The headline (‘Gains are now being felt’. Aquino upbeat on economic takeoff in 2011) is a report mostly about President Aquino telling everyone that he is good possibly even heaven sent and that if we believe him we will be more happy, more hopeful, possibly feel better even when we are like frogs swimming in a pot of water slowly getting to boiling point. In fact, the weather bureau became more accurate just because Aquino became President. BTW, the paper forgot to mention that since President Aquino took over, the growth registered from the last three quarters of the previous administration slowed down by some sort of miracle. Aquino +1.
The other Front Page news reports today:
No safe ’crackers for pets, people, environment - a report that says firecrackers should be banned for the sake of our pets.
DBM: No more pork served on silver platter - a report on transparency on use of the pork barrel, giving President Aquino credit for pushing for the policy. Aquino +1.
Witness ill; court junks bribery raps vs trader - a report on a curious but unsatisfying result of a bribery case.
AFP: Reds now threat to dev’t, collected P1.5 billion in ‘taxes’ - a report on the NPA making a living of extortion. NPA -1.
Venus showers major, major graces on ma, builds house for family - a report on how a good daughter Ms. Venus Raj is.
Get ready for a wet New Year - the weather bureau is really good. PAG-ASA +1.
The scores:
Aquino: 2
PAG-ASA: 1
NPA: -1
