September 13, 2011

It seems to be lousy day today for news as the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today reports on some corporate news.

The headline (Gov’t braces for gold rush. DENR fears surge in illegal mining) is a curious report on the valuable metal, with the DENR given space to say they are doing something to protect the environment. DENR +1.

The other front page news reports:

Exploration plan boosts Philex Petroleum shares - includes an international coverage of a local firm.

New Yorkers mourn and move on - an essay on one's own recollection of and reflection on 9/11.

Filipinos seek info on Web; rich prefer newspapers - a report on supposed statistics on how Filipinos get their information.

PDI starts write-along for campus journalists - a report on the paper itself that seems to claim that they maintain some sort journalistic standards which could have been believable if we have not actually monitored their reporting. Inquirer +1.

No more big fish; overfishing blamed - a curious report on declining population of fish made for canned sardines.

The scores:
DENR: 1
Inquirer: 1
