October 15, 2010

The news that is coming from the President's point of view on the SC's recent decision took centerstage today at the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front page.

The main headline (Aquino slams high court. Warns SC ruling could lead to gov’t chaos) seems to expound a controversy that the President wanted to stir up versus the Supreme Court in relation to the latter's recent decision which somehow took the former's decision at bay. Aquino +1. SC -1.

The other news today:

Biggest ever: P24-B tax case filed vs Shell - an almost one sided report on the governments case against the giant oil company. Aquino +1.

‘Poverty rate due to GMA highway robbery’ - a he-says-she-says kind of report unfriendly to the former President. Arroyo -1.

Private lives of miners tumble out as they turn into media stars - a report on the lives of the rescued miners in Chile.

Judge to make ruling despite Aquino’s amnesty decree - basically a support piece on the President's decision to give amnesty to rebel soldiers. Aquino +1.

CMMA: Inquirer wins best print coverage of Cory death, funeral - a report on how good the Inquirer proved by the CMMA awards. Inquirer +1.

Truth body now open vs grafters - a report on the start of a Presidential commission who by using the mass media will surely and can only embarass the former President. Arroyo -1.

PCSO flaunts STL new look at Senate hearing - a report on the sentate hearings on Jueteng.

The scores gave President Aquino quite a number of thumbs-up today:
Aquino: 3
Inquirer: 1
SC: -1
Arroyo: -2
