October 9, 2010

The pork budget and what seems to be Sec. Puno's rumblings took centerstage today in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page.

The main headline (‘Pork’ in budget doubled. From P70M, 278 solons can get as much as P145M) is a usual he-say-she-say kind of report, resulting from interviews with various congressmen for and against the pork barrel arrangements as well as the Palace' deputy spokesperson, where those against are given more space. Aquino -1.

The other front page news today:

Puno: 5 groups out to get me - is somewhat a secondary headline that is basically a press release from USec Puno and the President. It also contains an interview with Sec. Robredo that all turned out positive for everyone, although it is apparent that all is not well with Sec. Robredo and Usec. Puno. Puno +1. Aquino +1. Robredo +1.

THUMBS UP, THUMBS DOWN. Lifestyle without a bang, ‘wangwang’ - a mostly positive take on the President's first 100 days. Aquino +1.

Shalani Soledad, Aquino now singing ‘Knowing When to Leave’ - a controlled media release of the supposed split of the President from Councilor Shalani that obviously turn out President-friendly. Aquino +1.

Aquino opens largest corn facility in SEA - a positive coverage of the President riding on a project by a private firm. Aquino +1.

COMMENTARY. ‘Real’ China still ‘developing country’ - a press statement from China, as she tries to lump herself with small developing countries like the Philippines. China +1.

Imeldific seeks $10B for millennium projects - a positive news from Cong. Imelda Marcos with negative undertones, but still turns out positive as a whole. Imelda +1.

Still there are two other news in the front page today but which links we did not find in the Internet website:
Forest of Hope springs on biggest day of climate change
Nobel price lit winner prefers printed books.

The scores seems to show the President can go no wrong:
Aquino: 3
Puno: 1
Robredo: 1
China: 1
Imelda: 1
