A full blown war between President Aquino and the Catholic church is what seems to be projected in the main headline of the Philippine Daily Inquirer Front Page today.
The main headline (Aquino faces threat of excommunication. Protester shouts at bishops: ‘Damaso!’) makes a spin out of an interview of the CBCP president as if the Chief Executive is being threatened with Excommunication. The report also took note that one of the priests defending the church is a supporter of former President Arroyo (the Evil one). It also includes a report of a RH bill supporter charging at a Religious ceremony protesting the Catholic Church's involvement in politics with a DAMASO placard. Catholic Church -1.
The other news today:
Touchy ‘Fili’ tour guide arrested for ‘Noli’ poster - a continuation of a report on the protester in the church. Catholic Church -1.
Syjuco spent P66M on Arroyo T-shirts, P25M for Sarah ads - a report on how very bad indeed the former TESDA chief was, supporting the former President. Arroyo -1.
17 senators ask Aquino to amnesty Trillanes, etc - a report with a reference to President Aquino's overwhelming mandate. Aquino +1.
Robredo tipped off: Puno, Verzosa receiving ‘jueteng’ payola - a positive news on Sec. Robredo, taking charge against Jueteng. Robredo +1.
Gov’t now feeding 1.5M day-care kids - a report on the DSWD taking care of small kids. DSWD +1.
Europe landmarks guarded amid fresh terror fears - some international news picked up from various news organizations.
Small budget: VP on short fuse - the VP, a funny and humble fellow, getting some good exposure via this news report. Binay +1.
The scores:
Aquino: 1
Binay: 1
DSWD: 1
Robredo: 1
Arroyo: -1
Catholic Church: -2
