October 16, 2010

The arriving typhoon, and the hostage blame game are the most prominent news in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today.

The main headline reports on the statements of both General Magtibay and Mayor Lim, the former blaming the latter while the latter parrying off the blame (Ex-MPD chief blames Lim. Lim hits back: Why air belated version only now), giving them both some negative exposure. The issue might then get back at President Aquino as the two lead characters both say they did not know of any order from above to use the Special Action Force, which could mean the President is totally uninvolved in the hostage situation. Lim -1. Aquino -1.

The other news in the front page today:

PCCI maps strategy to grow key industries - a report on the PCCI saying what should be done by the government to improve the business situation in the Philippines. The report did not say whom the recommendations where forwarded to although it was apparently presented to President Aquino as reported in the next news.

Aquino hails business leaders’ role - a report on the President talking with and praising business leaders, specifically the members of the PCCI, while the latter presents the President with various recommendations.

NBN-ZTE deal tops truth body’s initial 23 cases - a report on the commission created by President Aquino tasked to run after the former administration, that also receives some issues against itself. Arroyo -1.

SBMA backs off reinstating ‘midnight’ bets - a report saying the SBMA misinterpreted the SC ruling but then backtracked from their further action as they receive news of the SC clarification.

Footnotes: SC drops case of plagiarism against justice - a report on the SC decision on the alleged plagiarism by one of its members that is being pinned on an error by that member's research staff.

Super storm barreling toward Luzon - simply a weather report.

There is another news, about what awaits the rescued miners in Chile, in the front page today which link our monitor cannot find from the Inquirer website.

The scores:
Aquino: -1
Arroyo: -1
Lim: -1
