October 27, 2010

The problems of the COMELEC which was the highlight of yesterday's issue, made it again as the centerpiece today in the Phil. Dialy Inquirer Front Page.

The main news (‘Controlled poll chaos’ Comelec to look into ‘sabotage’ claims) reports on the possible reasons why there are delays and/or postponement in some Barangay elections. The problem seems to stem from corruption within COMELEC while the Commission is proactive enough to investigate it, giving them both good and bad press.

The other news today:

Vietnam can teach us to grow food–Aquino - a report solely coming from the administration's point of view on his trip to Vietnam. Aquino +1.

Foreign authors back UP law profs - a report 90% of which are comments against the SC. SC -1.

‘Heads or tails’ to break electoral ties - an amusing story on how ties are broken in the Barangay and SK elections.

Election snafus probed - a report on the what the COMELEC is doing to investigate the delays in delivering election paraphernalia that caused postponements of the election in some areas. COMELEC +1.

Paul the octopus is dead - a report on the death of a football-predictor octopus.

Walkman, 31: Sony pulls plug on iconic cassette player - a report in memory of the first popular portable music player.

COMMENTARY. Wood, with a gift for burning - a lamentation of an advocate versus erroneous books. DepEd -1.

‘Kumpadres’ brings tomorrow’s news on Radyo Inquirer - an advertisement for an Inquirer news program on radio. Inquirer +1.

The scores:
Aquino: 1
COMELEC: 1
Inquirer: 1
DepED: -1
SC: -1
