The main issue in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today is still on RH Bill, Family Planning and Contraceptives.
The headline (Civil disobedience still a CBCP option. Bishops say they have moral authority to call for) seems to ready the reader for a showdown between the Church and the Government as far as the RH Bill is concerned. The news include opinions from both side of the issue and seems fair. However, of course, the issue is still a non-issue when in fact everyone is not actually talking about specifics but on the broader issue of Church versus State policies.
The other news today:
Analysis. RH bill fight may damage Church - An analysis by Doronila who is known to have supported President Aquino in the campaign with his views, that is based on wrong premises: that the Bishops threatened the President with Excommunication (the church did not) and that the President is steadfast in his decisions (he did not make any decision). Although the title says the fight may damage the Church, the piece actually did not say why so. It just says so. Aquino +1. Catholic Church -1.
Commentary. ‘Some pretend place where bluebirds sing’ - a commentary by Mr. Antonio Calipjo Go on erroneous textbooks about which practically nothing has been done to correct them. DepEd -1.
Poor households turned into small businesses - a report on a winning group's livelihood project for poor households.
Marikina shoes fight cheap imports - an AFP report on the Marikina shoe industry.
Archbishop Cruz gives President Aquino a ‘C’ - a negative rating for the President coming from Bishop Cruz among others in anticipation of his first 100 days. Aquino -1.
Fraternity offers reward for info on attackers - an update where there is actually no real updates on the grenade attack after the Bar Examinations near De La Salle University in Manila.
The scores:
Aquino: 0
Catholic Church: -1
DepEd: -1.
