November 20, 2010

A report on the Supreme Court treated positively took the centerpiece in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front page today.

The headline is (SC orders pipeline shut: ‘Writ of kalikasan’ issued to avert fires, etc) a report that gave the SC space for seemingly favoring the environment. SC +1.

The other Front page news today:

Aquino’s PPP policy draws flak, support - a he-says-she-says report on the PPP, from those for and against the Aquino policy which is by the way still unclear, and surprisingly leaving out the former President without any defender. Arroyo -1.

Colleagues pay tribute to ‘a national treasure’ - more reports on the botanist who was killed while at work in the forests, a report where the AFP is continuously being blamed. AFP -1.

Gov’t steps up alert vs bird flu - an alarmist report on the return of bird flu giving the Department of Health some positive space. DOH +1.

Bishops back clamor for live media coverage - a report pushing the Supreme Court to decide one way, without the benefit of the other side of the debate heard. SC -1.

Teacher misses chance to bet, win P495-M pot - a curious report which can never be verified on a person who could have won the lotto.

Palace running out of awards for Manny - a report on who seems to be the "best Filipino" ever, mentioning the top government officials who seems riding on his fame. Pacquiao +1. Aqiuno +1. Binay +1.

There is another news today (Prince breaks hearts: Can you tweet a tear?) which seems to be about the Royal engagement in UK and social networking, which may not have anything to do with local affairs.

The scores:
Aquino: 1
DOH: 1
Pacquiao: 1
Binay: 1
SC: 0
Arroyo: -1
