November 14, 2010

In a land where it was said more than 25% of people lives on $2 or less a day, the biggest news of the leading newspaper is all about boxing rather than the economic benefits the President's trip to Japan and joining the APEC could bring. In fact, today, the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page did not have any news on the APEC meeting, which organization's aim, to open its members trade with each other, has tremendous impact on the lives of every Filipino.

The headline (Step to immortality. Filipino champ 5-1 favorite to beat Margarito) is all about Pacquiao's boxing match today, also giving space to the President's interest in the match, forgetting altogether the embarrassing situation where a member of our congress is out there doing something that has absolutely nothing to do with being a lawmaker. Pacquiao +1. Aquino +1.

The other news today:

India worries PH will be world’s No. 1 BPO center in five years - a 2nd report in two days on the same industry.

True confession: It started with a conversation - a report on the President's new relationship, trashing a bit his old chum, but still not giving it all for the new, all the while throwing away the "too busy for love" line used even in very recent press releases. Aquino +1.

‘Drama Sa Nuebe Nubenta’ starts Monday - a promotional report on the Inquirer's own radio program. Inquirer +1.

Burma frees Suu Kyi - an AFP report on the release of Burma's most famous prisoner.

There is another news which title seems to caution people, who are into social networks, from adding online friends, which digital version we did not find from the Phil. Daily Inquirer's website.

The scores:
Aquino: 2
Pacquiao: 1
Inquirer: 1
