Pirates that are thousands of kilometers away took the center-stage in the front page of the Philippine Daily Inquirer today.

The headline is (Somali pirates free 19 Filipino sailors. Shipping firm pays record $9-M ransom) a report on the release of "courageous" (description per the DFA) Filipino sailors by pirates.

The other reports today:

Palace: Nothing new in British travel alert - a report from the administration's point of view on the terrorist threat. Aquino +1.

Watch out ABS-CBN: Here come Willie, Shalani - a report that looks like a promotional piece for a TV show.

COMMENTARY. Aquino has lots to learn from Obama’s defeat - an Anti-Aquino piece from who seems like an Obama fan, using wrong arguments that would have confused anyone as to what really is his point. Aquino -1.

Burma polls ‘anything but free’ - an AP report on the elections in Burma, quoting US officials on its conduct and showing their concern for democracy. USA +1.

Tallest Jesus statue rises in Poland - an international report on the construction of a statue of Jesus in Poland.

Birds disable CebuPac plane, delay flights - a report that looks like a Cebu Pacific advisory on flight delays.

Tips offered on how to win P353-M jackpot - an article that seems to believe you can improve your chances of winning the lotto when you do certain things.

The scores:
USA: 1
Aquino: 1-1 = 0
