December 16, 2010

Still, the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today has more to say on the Vizconde Massacre case, even as the Wikileaks revealed we have a strong leader in Pres. Arroyo while our country is considered a basketcase.

The headline (SC: Webb et al. not vindicated. Court didn’t rule they are not guilty) is more or less a fair treatment of the SC after its decision in the Vizconde Massacre case, a report which also gave DOJ Sec. De Lima more than good space for her opinion. De Lima +1. SC +1.

The other news today:

Vizconde told there’s divine justice - a report on the sadness of Lauro Vizconde who took a swipe at the SC, and which report turned into a priests' sermon. SC -1.

Hubert Webb: It really feels, smells like Christmas - a report on the newly released from jail, treated much like a celebrity.

WikiLeaks: Arroyo good leader but for corruption - more of a report on the wikileaks than on Arroyo, the title seems to say that she would have been a good President if not for her corruption. Of course, it was not said that way, (eliminating the word "her") but it nevertheless resulted that way. Arroyo -1.

TELLING THE FILIPINO STORY TO THE WORLD. Marcos told this reporter he had a mission from God - a report by the Inquirer on itself. Inquirer +1.

TELLING THE FILIPINO STORY TO THE WORLD. Cardinal Sin looked after Marcoses’ safety - a positive story no Cardinal Sin at the height of the 1986 peaceful People Power Revolution. Although this special is part of the Inquirer's 25 years celebration, it did not mention anything about itself.

10 soldiers killed by rebels 2 days before ceasefire - the AFP is in the losing end of the clashes, while the President's action to drop charges against the Morong 43 is given a bit of a positive treatment. AFP +1. Aquino +1.

Aquino invites media for cheese, pan de sal - a report on the budget, on the CCT, on President Aquino's good media relations and his simplicity (not lavish) in celebrations. Aquino +1.

The scores:
Aquino: 2
De Lima: 1
Inquirer: 1
SC: 1-1 =0
AFP: 1
Arroyo: -1
