The government's side on rebel extortions and a photo of an ambulance which figured in an accident took the center-stage in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front page today.

The headline (Talks to take up NPA tax. Stop paying insurgents, gov’t asks businesses) is a continuation of the news on alleged mining company's extortions by the NPA, this time from the point of view of the government negotiating team panel member, who asked the mining companies why they are paying money to the rebel group when he should have asked himself the question. The report also feature comments by a member of the President's communication group. The 2nd half of the report turned out to look like a repeat of the same report yesterday. The report also includes comments from Senators Honasan and Recto. Aquino +1. Recto +1.

The other Front Page news report:

Filipinos upbeat, likely to greet New Year with more bang - a report that says the election of President Aquino is good but has its downside, featuring some comments from the health secretary. Aquino +1. DOH +1.

Gov’t to build 14,000 classrooms. To buy 300,000 ha of land for farmers - a selective report on the good things added to the budget but missing out on what reductions were made, obviously a report favoring the government. Aquino +1. DepEd +1. DAR +1.

Undocumented OFWs in Mideast now 10,000 - a report on issues facing the OFWs and the declining number of deployments to some countries.

DA sets up 3 tramlines in South - a report on an infrastructure project that could help in the transport of produce from the uplands in Mindanao, that gave the Department of Agriculture credit. DA +1.

This ambulance did not save lives; 3 killed - a report on an accident in the Skyway that resulted in some deaths and injuries.

No apology but rebs must admit guilt - a report on the coup soldiers' amnesty with little or no insinuations as to whether it is good or not.

South Korea school robots operated by Filipino teachers - a novel way of teaching English to kids in Korea from the Philippines.

The scores:
Aquino: 3
Recto: 1
DOH: 1
DAR: 1
DA: 1
DepEd: 1
