December 17, 2010

The Supreme Court is again on the Front Page of the Phil. Daily Inquirer today, not on the Vizconde case nor on the Truth Commission, but this time on a decision involving the former President's son.

The headline (SC junks suit vs Arroyo son. Says no jurisdiction to rule on petitions) looked like to be a minor development on the case against Mikey Arroyo's party list representation, that was given prominent space perhaps to conjure ill feelings on the SC and the Arroyos. SC -1. Arroyo -1.

The other news today:

SC focused on Alfaro testimony - a report involving the SC that seems to have not given any opinion on the subject.

AMPATUAN TRIAL. DNA testing needed to ID TV man’s body - an update on the Ampatuan massacre.

Brave Filipino booters bow to Indonesians - a story on the first semi-finals loss by the Philippine football team, who still have a chance on Sunday.

Season of joy starts with gov’t-NPA truce - a story on the season, with the military on the church given good space this time. AFP +1. Catholic Church +1.

TELLING THE FILIPINO STORY TO THE WORLD. Supreme irony of the Cory years - a brave reporter recounting her story while covering coups during former Pres. Cory Aquino's tenure.

TELLING THE FILIPINO STORY TO THE WORLD. EDSA baby covers dying Lady in Yellow - a story of the paper's coverage on the death of the former President. Inquirer +1.

Facebook founder crowned Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ - a news feature on a magazine's person of the year.

Year of Rabbit seen lucky for Aquino in love dep’t - the President can go now wrong when his love future as mentioned by a Feng Shui expert is given space in the front page - Aquino +1.
