January 11, 2011

A repeat of a story with almost identical contents as in previous reports made it as the main headline in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today.

The headline (Garcia deal not yet final. Sandigan statement spurs more questions) is a reprinting of the same news in the past on the Garcia plunder and plea bargain case. Ombudsman -1. Sandiganbayan -1.

The other news in the front page today:

Charter change not Aquino’s priority, says Palace - a report on the charter change issue, which the President is not so much interested about and more of trying to skirt the issue, with comments by Sens. Cayetano, Pangilinan and Escudero given space by the paper. Sen. Cayetano mentioned without any hint of basis that the move might have been aimed at putting former President Arroyo back in power as Prime Minister. Arroyo -1.

‘Duwende’ book explains autism, ADHD - a feature on the read-along project by the Inquirer. Inquirer +1.

Lauro Vizconde’s run for justice launched - is a report on those supporting Lauro Vizconde against the recent Supreme Court decision. SC -1.

Ombudsman finally acts on torture case filed by Abadilla 5 - a report on the group of convicts alleging police torture, at last being heard by the Ombudsman. The report cannot warrant a positive nor negative score for the Ombudsman as it is devoid of any such insinuations. PNP -1.

PH ‘Mother,’ ‘Doña’ make it to gallery of Asian cinema greats - a report on two Filipino film producers included in a recently published book.

Ilocos Norte’s top secret: John Irving - a story on a novelist now on a visit or vacation in Ilocos.

Vegas show unveils hottest high-tech toys - an AFP report on some high-tech toys in an US exhibition.

The scores shows for the first time that President Aquino is not so much covered in a day this year:
Inquirer: 1
Ombudsman: -1
Sandiganbayan: -1
SC: -1
PNP: -1
Arroyo: -1
