The COMELEC again is the main news in the Phil. Daily Inquirer Front Page today.

The headline (Brillantes sworn in as chair of Comelec. No more objections from Roxas after chat) is basically a report on the appointment of the new COMELEC chairman, without reporting on the real sticky issues on the same such as conflicts of interests. Importance was shown of Roxas whim the President asked his candidate for the position to meet with prior his appointment. Mention was made of both Binay and Escudero but not enough to trigger our score for them. Roxas +1.

The other scores today:

Cayetano: Choice lacks wow factor - a report with more space for valid but unchallenged criticisms of the new COMELEC Chairman than support, a he-said-she-said piece based on interviews with politicians. COMELEC -1.

Australia, Brazil reel from more destruction - an AFP report on the floods that hit (and still hitting) Brazil and Australia.

COMMENTARY. Wanted: New Philippine satellite - a curious commentary urging local telcos to launch a satellite for "patriotic" reasons.

COMMENTARY. Moro substate plan may hasten peace - a short commentary with few suggestions on the peace initiatives in Mindanao.

Local green schools fight US junk food - an international news organization's report on the Filipinos' unhealthy diet.

Friends’ wish for Aquino: A Cebuano girlfriend - a report on the President joining some festivities in Cebu's Sinulog. Aquino +1.

The scores:
Aquino: 1
Roxas: 1
COMELEC: 1
